When did i contract?

I'm a 32 year old male. I've been dating a girl for 3 months. Before her I dated the same girl for 10 years. I just got diagnosed with hsv2 and this is my initial outbreak. I had unprotected sex with new girl prolly 20 times including on her period. I have only slept with 4 women in my lifetime. When did I contract?

I did not notice an outbreak. If she was I would think she would have or should have told me. Im really struggling with this. Also, if this was a new transmission wouldn't a negative test my me confirm she was the one that transmitted to me?

Did you notice if your partner was having an outbreak or anything wrong in the vaginal area when you had intercourse?  I would ask your current partner if she has had an HSV diagnosis, or at least an HSV test.

Thanks for responses. I haven't confronted either partners yet. Im truly afraid of fallout. I have never had hsv1 either. So if my current partner gets tested and it shows positive. Then she would have given it to me, bc if I had given it to her, its too early for her to test positive?

Visual diagnoses are only 75% accurate and that is with someone very experienced with herpes.

Further, working out type is usually of benefit to understand future courses of action.

I'd you are experiencing quite a bad breakout and don't have oral HSV1 the it is very likely the partner in the 2 weeks leading to symptoms is the source.

I would not just assume this is herpes at present. However there is that suspicion. Swabbing and blood may be inconclusive for you over the next few months so asking your partner to test will provide some insights as to the possibilities. It could be from an oral HSV-1 infection for example.

I suppose your Doctor is high in confidence. I personally would have requested a swab test be taken as sometimes visual examination can be incorrect even by doctors.
Has your latest partner had any similar symptoms or outbreaks?

I went to MD and he looked at blisters and immediately recognized. Did not take test as he said there was no need.

If this is your initial outbreak then my guess is that it would be your most recent partner.
How were you diagnosed?
Do you have herpetic blisters currently?
