When is a cold sore "healed completely"?

I've heard several descriptions saying it's ok to kiss or share things when a cold sore is completely healed. What does that actually look like? My girlfriend had one start almost two weeks ago. Scab/dead skin fell off a while ago and it was red for a a few days. Now one looks pink and the other seems to be white like her skin. I'm just wondering if she's still contagious.

When the sore scabs over most likely the virus isn't present anymore. So when it's healed enough that the scab falls off then you're good to go. The virus has retreated by then
