Worried I may have caught oral herpes. Help!

So last night, I went out with some friends and some of their friends. Long story short, someone drank from my drink/straw just before I did. They had no signs of cold sores whatsoever but not knowing anything about these people is terrifying. What is the probability that I'd get Herpes 1 from drinking from the same straw right after them? I know for a fact I'm negative for both so this has been beyond worrisome for me.

Thank you so much! You really helped me stop worrying. I wish I hadn't overreacted for two days about this the way I did.

Hi, the risk to contract it that way would be close to zero and highly unlikely. Most of the time its contracted that way by young children whose immune systems are not fully formed. This would not be an issue you should be concerned about at all.
Also to contract it, the virus must be rubbed into the nerve like deep hard kissing with an obvious sore present. Shedding does take place without a sore but not that often.
