Worried about Herpes 1 & 2 infection

Hi, I am a male, 35 yrs. I had unprotected oral sex performed on me (fellatio) by a sex worker(women) , 8 days back. no vaginal sex.
2  days after exposure , I started having burning sensation on my testicles and scrotum, sometimes they turn red, no other symptoms. At day 8 I went to a local clinic, the nurse said, these symptoms are most probably due to Herpes 1 or 2. I am worried , is this really herpes or can it be something else. Please let me know.
I tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea at day 6, both negative.

I would.
So your symptoms were red and burning scrotum? No blister type lesions? No fever flu like symptoms?
The reason I ask is them just giving you meds without a proper diagnosis or testing of any kind is rather irresponsible. I would seek a Dr who knows about hsv as I surely do not think you contracted it. Ino fact I would be absolutely shocked if that were the case!!!

No symptoms except burning scrotum/testicles. Sometimes the pain moves around inner thighs. It's been 10 days post exposure.

This is clearly not hsv and here's why. Hsv very rarely infects the scrotum. The skin is very thick and it's not a realistic place to be infected. The shaft would've been the place of most friction. Now clearly the clinic isn't to swift on hsv. Hsv2 is very rarely an oral infection and when it is  the virus sheds so very little that you can rule this out completely. If she had no cold sore present then your odds were so very small. Add all this up and hsv from your single oral encounter is such a low risk it doesn't warrant much concern.
The fact you say they sometimes turn red is also a good sign that this is not hsv related. If you had a new hsv1 infection you would know it.
One more thing. If you ever get cold sores on your lip then you would be immune to getting hsv1 of the genitals.

Thanks for your reply. Hoping everything turns out fine. The clinic has put me on a 10 day acyclovir dosage. Should I reach out to another clinic or urologist ?
