, and my herpes (hsv 2 igg herpes select type) results came back as negative saying it was <0.90 (but didn't give the actually percentage just that it was under .90 aka negative). my partner 5 days ago had sores appear around her vagina and as of 2 days ago it hurt so bad that she had to go to the hospital and give her morphine for the pain, the doc diagnosed it as genital herpes and her results came into today confirmed from the hospital that it is type 2 genital herpes. we've been having sex
for the past 3 months and before that i didn't have a partner before her for over a year and a month, and i have never had symptoms or signs of herpes. Im her second and here first boyfriend was her first and he was her first sexual
partner too. so im so confused, i got retested again by them today, and also by my doc using igg again and this time igs.
my questions are what do you make of this?
what does my igg results mean, was i definitely at that time i had the test was without herpes 2 in my system.
and what is the difference between igg and igm.
and any other info you can give or speculation
the igm test is a greatly flawed test and we never recommend its use. it has a high false positive rate and if it comes back +, it is meaningless. In theory it would reflect a newly acquired herpes infection if it was more accurate.
what testing did your gf have that was +? was that the lesion culture or did she also have blood testing done? if it was a lesion culture, she should call to make sure it was specifically typed as hsv2 and not just hsv+ and they called her to say hsv2+ just because it's genital ( a common
Well I know I have HSV1 cuz ive had cold sores rarely every now and then starting from one i was young too. And yes the did a lesion culture in the hospital and it said it was viral for hsv2, im hoping with the blood work they did they will test with IGG but it still doesn't explain or match why my igg is <.90 so she couldn't have gotten it from me right? or do those test come out wrong sometimes (i hope not because they sure are pricey)?
if you were properly tested and were negative for hsv2 on your igg then your gf had hsv2 prior to meeting you and never knew it. that's why her getting a blood test now will help clear that up for you both.
