Worried about transmission to uninfected partner

I have had GH for 23 years.  Recently divorced and started new relationship. We are usually
very careful but we had sex with no condom.  I was not experiencing symptoms but woke up the next day with what I think is a tiny ob between my vagina and anul opening.  I have been taking Valtrex 1g for about 8 months and we do use nonoxynol-9 with condoms for birth control. (although no condom this time). What are the risk of transmission to my partner.  I am femaled and he is male. Thank you.

you shouldn't use condoms with nonoxynol-9 on them - they actually increase the transmission of std's.  

You were on suppressive therapy and you aren't even sure if it's an ob or not.  The risk to your partner is rather small but only time will tell at this point.

Did your partner ever have a herpes igg blood test before to know his status?

First, thank you for your quick response.  I appreciate all of your given info.

Second, my partner has never had a herpes igg blood test.  I know that he should
be tested.  

You are right, I am not sure that this is an ob or not, but the area in question is extremely sore.


I do only have maybe 1 or 2 ob per year that I am aware of and I take my antiviral meds daily.
Does the valtrex reduce the amount of virus released when an ob occurs? or does it only work on supression?

Yes suppressive therapy helps so that you are shedding less with an ob and in between ob's.

I hate doing the ole - is it or isn't it an ob thing. Usually takes me about 3 days until I know one way or the other when it isn't real clear cut and it's always at a time when I had "big" plans in the bedroom...sigh.
