a little distraught and confused.

To give as much detail as possible, i was diagnosed with hsv2 in 2008 at the end of my pregnancy. i have only had one partner, wich whom is my husband. assuming he is an asymptomatic carrier, bc he has no breakouts. he has never been tested.

is there at all any other possible way i could have contracted hsv2 if it wasnt him?

so any way, my first breakout was at the end of my pregnancy in 08. my second at the very beginning of my third pregnancy (non during my second pregnancy) and my third outbreak currently, the very end of my third pregnancy. the first two only lasted 2 weeks. this one, its going on 24 days since i noticed beginning stages. i started valtrex sooner then the first two times.

is this normal for it to be going  on this long?

and lastly, a week ago, i noticed in the crease of my leg next to the genital area only on one side, i broke out in this rash that looks similar to herpes breakout. from my understanding, hsv doesnt occure in this area, and that it doesnt last any longer then 14 days.

what else could be going on?

this breakout thats lasting a long time is no longer a full flege painful burning sensation or blisters, but bumps are slightly still visable, and terrible itching right on the bumps.  is it possible the pregnancy, with me having a lowered immune system, be making my body have a hard time fighting it off? the itching on a daily constant basis with no relief is driving me to insanity. talking with my ob reqally didnt give me any insight to what could be going on or why i could still be itching. hopefully i will get some answers with an std specialist....... thanks a bunch.

youre right, i wish he was more helpful, as well. dont get me wrong, like all providers of any kind, they all have pros and cons. that is his con. hes an older sweet man, but he is youre old fashioned type seems to be like "no need to explain myself it is what it is"in a soft manner. lol! hes youre typical man. men arnt like woman, we need to know details and why. he apparently doesnt find it comforting to let people in on whats going on in his mind what it could be ect.
o well. been feeling much better. its amazing that an illness like this can put clouds over youre head and when its gone its such a releif you feel like a new person. until the next ob that it. sickning stuff with a mind of its own. cant wait til God allows us to find a cure, and nip this disgusting plague in the rear end. (if he ever allows us.)

yes it can last longer but odds are what you have going on currently isn't due to herpes.  it's a shame your provider isn't being more helpful :(

thanks grace for being so responsive. symptoms are just now going away. it is now a month from my breakout with hsv2 and 2 weeks form my other breakout in the crook of my leg and "area". the doctor is beginning internals as i am due in 4 weeks, and he did have a chance to get a good look. again, he didnt seem alarmed. didnt test it tho, but since it seems to be drying up and going away i didnt push the issue. i jsut dont see how i could have gotten infected anywhere else considering how sonstant iw as at dryign the area to keep myself comfortable with the hsv breakout. and he is wanting me on the meds to suppress it again for safety percautions, in case im that small chance i would happen to go into roaring labor and hAVE to deliver vaginally, unplanned. considering it is taking a month(still some itching with no visable bumps or anyhting) im afraid this pregnancy is just helping along breakouts and keeping them there, so i dont mind being ont he meds to suppres it anyhow.

my main concern is to avoid this nightmare from happening again for a month long straight. the 2 weeks it tolerable but anyhting after that, it was like someone said before "chinease water torture." although alot more irritating then water drops on ones head, just the constant endurance of this irritation begins to depress you and anger you. ive found myself full of rage, feeling like this isnt ever going to end. so any ways, thanks to all for imput! sorry my case sounds a bit out of character for an hsv breakout, but ive read several cases where their symptoms wuld last longer then the norm 2 weeks. and obviously it can last longer then what docs say, i just wish docs would admit to it. i dont see how the same blisters could magically turn into something else. it was jsut the same stuff, jstu hasnt gone away simple as that. i guess the main thing is since the meds are the only thing they could think of and that there is no cure, then iw as crap out of luck any way and wasnt worth elaborating on. idk.

If you are having a planned c section, you don't have to be on preventative herpes antivirals for the last month.

your current rash sounds more like irritation or a fungal infection. when you are seen this week, make sure they do a proper exam of your symptoms, not a quick looksee.   as our bodies get bulkier towards the end, skin rubs in different ways and also is makes it easier for yeast to over grow in the nooks and crannies too.  It's worth the changes to have a beautiful baby but nothing attractive about some of those changes....lol.

thanks for youre response, grace. i will answer all youre questions to clarify.
i told my ob about it during my ob appointment on monday, and he took a quick glance at the crease of my leg just by pulling the side of my pants down. honeslty, i dont even think he got a good look at it if he even did see it. i was hoping he would want to get a GOOD look, and look in the vaginal area, where i DID break out. as i said, i still have small bumps, and itches terribly right on those bumps. but the stuff in the crease of my leg is only a breakout that looks jsut like herpes, but it isnt sore or itchy or anyhting, and only on one side . this particular ob has not been tested or even looked at. but i think it was day 3 i got medicine in me. valtrex 500mg 2 times a day. i will be on it until i deliver(by c section any ways, but keeping it in me as safety precautions.) there hasnt been discharge for about a week like there was in the beginning.

i am 35 weeks pregnant.
and he was never tested bc it was never a thought i suppose. i guess it would have been common sence to, bc he was young and dumb and had several partners before me.we got married when we were 20, 5 1/2 years ago.so being that young i guess its jsut not something you think about.he never had a breakout of any kind to raise any red flags. he is my only partner and always has been. but the other people he was with to his knowledge didnt have anything. either they were carriers and didnt know, or they were inconsiderate and didnt say anything.
but, this doesnt matter know it is what it is. we will always be together, i know this as a fact. so we wont have to worry about passing this to any one else.and lucky him, he doesnt have breakouts lol!

i just dont know what else the itching can be, when its the same blisters that have been there since my breakout at the beginning of this month.*shrug* and the new rash has been there for about 7 days now, hasnt gotten worse, and hasnt gotten better. to touch it feels like an old bruise, like it is ever so slightly sore, similar to the soreness of herpes. but doesnt itch or burn. just blisters and redness.

have you had your obgyn take a look at all of this?  have they tested you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally with this rash?

how many weeks into pregnancy are you?

why was hubby never tested to know his own status?

did your obgyn discuss you going on valtrex in the pregnancy doses for the last month of pregnancy - 500mg twice a day?

sounds like your herpes ob is healed and something else is going on at this point.
