acurrate test or not

my culture for genital herpes was pos but blood resr neg im confused ive never had outbreaks i had burning urinating after surgery in october but noticed that after took catherter out  i had hystrectomy done everything out but overies seems thats when problems started is shingles tested same way as reg herpes cause my bf was tested for all that and he was neg 5 months or more in our relationship i called lab they just said it was hsv 1&2 blood test done on meI do have a yeast infection

If your culture was + for herpes and your igg blood test was negative for herpes then it's a newly acquired infection for you.

No reason to test adults for shingles.  Do you know if your bf was actually tested for herpes simplex or not?

A yeast infection wouldn't cause a falsely positive lesion culture. I'm assuming the lesion culture was done because your provider saw signs of active herpes genitally at the time?

i found out today my doc did a bactarial culture and came pos for that and no she didnt see no lesions just checking for everything and she did igg test that was equvolent so gonna test again in 2 months and they did a igm on bf his was neg i know test dont mean nothing so hes gonna be tested too my doc isnt quite sure thats what i got thats why retesting cause they did bactarial swab and checked for gonnaria and everything else and all else neg but said bactarial did grow so just got to wait 2 months repeat test no more then and stay on valtix till no more its waiting game for me she did say type 1 down there cant survive and not to worry to much

So you didn't have a + culture of an active lesion for herpes - just it was + for bacteria?

Neither you nor your bf should be getting the herpes igm test - just the igg test. The igm test is a bad herpes test in general and we don't recommend it at all.  Search on herpes igm here and you'll find lots of posts on it and also info on it in the everything you wanted to know about herpes healthpage here on medhelp.


I don't recommend continuing valtrex daily at this point to be honest.
