alchohol and acyclovir

Hi i was jvust wondering if anyone knows if you can drink on acyclovir?  Have a christmas party to go to and wasnt sure if i could have any cocktails?  I will be on my 9th day of the meds, and i only have to take it for ten.  they are 400mg, 5 times a day for 10 days.  Thanks a lot!

YES you can drink ( responsibly ) while on the antivirals :D

ps - the first ob is treated with 400mg 3x/day for 10 days or 200mg 5x/day for 10 days. Your doctor prescribed the wrong dose!

holy **** r u serious? you know, i tought it seemed like a lot, but thought maybe she just wanted to really kick it out of me or  maybe i just had a really bad one and she gave me little extra lol.  it was a nurse practitioner that i seen in the er, and she said i had the blisters  all inside to, it was really painful..

that gets me kinda nervous like im taking to much and if i drink on top of itb  thanks for the info though!

She just prescribed you the shingles dose instead of the genital herpes dose that's all. It's easy to get confused with all the different doses out there that's all.  Make it easier for yourself and go to the 400mg 3x/day dose for convenience's sake :)

Actually I correct myself - that isn't even the shingles dose ( 800mg 5x/day ) - she just confused the doses I think.
