anal herpes

I had sex with a girl about 6 months ago.  Since then, I've had an on and off itch in my genital area, slight stinging on my penis, and itching in my ***.  Could this be herpes? If you dont have anal sex can you get herpes on your ***?

You can get herpes lesions anywhere in the entire "boxer short" area as we call it.

Have you been to your provider for an exam yet?

no, i was at the doctor about a month after initial contact and he said i didnt have the symptoms of herpes so he didnt order a test.  also, i havent had any lesions, though i know that doesnt mean i dont have herpes.  I also want to add that im not really experiencing "outbreaks". There are periods of where the itching/stinging is more intense and periods where its unnoticeable, but it seems to never completely goes away.  Does this suggest something else or can it still be herpes?

Did the Dr. examine your rectal region at all? You could be having , bear with me on the spelling here, a hemmerhoid. They can be VERY annoying, but are treatable. Do you know the girl you had sex with very well? Could be a clue there for you.

I recommend returning to the doctor with your new itching symptoms for a further work up. It can be many, many things.
