another whitlow inquiry

ok so recently i thought i had whitlow, after a visual doc said it didn't look like whitlow. Long Story short (if i can ever do that) There was no pain or anything.

My point two weeks ago my daughter had a pimple on her index finger We assumed it was an ant bite since we get ants  in the summer. Anyway she had no pain or itching then it starting to just get smaller in size and i thought it was about gone it didn't crust over or anything like that.Just sort of decreased in size. Anyway just last night it started to itch her again and it stated to get big again. I put hydrocortisone cream to stop it from scatching when she woke up it looks a little smaller and she said it doesn't hurt her at all because of course i kept asking her to show it to me and repeatdly asked if it hurt or not so she said in a diva voice "it's just an ant bite loook and was pressing on it and said "it doesn't hurt " So of course i am treating it as whitlow just in case but i am putting cortisone on it and bandaged it up and told her under no circumstances was she to touch her privates with that finger, problem is when she takes a shower she dries herself with a towel but only the towel touches her privates.

Now she is only 7 does this sound like whitlow?? Sould i be concerned or is my anxiety playing with me head again?

She's been seen by a medical professional who said this isn't due to herpes.

i forgot to mention that he kept pressing down on it( i think he was trying to get a reaction from her but she didn't even move) and asking her if it hurt, she said no ! He also said that this is not "typical herpes behavior" he said it would almost always hurt , ooze then crust over and fall of it wouldn' decrease in size then get big again. He also told me that if I had whitlow (which i also felt he didn't believe that I would only be contagious when there was an obvious sore lol .... where did I hear that before !

ok well i just came in from the doc. He practiclly laughed at me. He said that because he finger was not swollen, red or painful and certainly the pimple is very very small that there's no way he would even put whitlow as a possibility. he said it could be a number of things from excema to an insect bite that keeps getting irritated. Anyway he says that because it doesn't seem to bother her at all ( i can attest to that also) she is acting like it's not even there then there's no problem. I left there assured, but wanted to get your opinion Grace since you seem to know more about herpes than most doctors I know- Do you agree with the doctor?

This is not something that an online forum can help you with.  At this point nothing you can do but wait until she is seen.  we can not possibly diagnose what is going on.

Hi Grace it's me again, well I have another update, I am trying to book an appointment for my daugter.

the same exact spot developed one pimple thing just like before every time it goes away it comes back it really looks like a bug bite but it has me worried because it's the same exact spot it doesn't crust over or blister up or hurt but it is itchy.

Does this still not sound like herpes whitlow? I am worried and I hpe i get an appointment today !

they don't need to know a thing about herpes to know that you have a fear of something you don't have :)

This is an anxiety issue. I can't help you with that - it's much more of an issue than I can handle on a free online message board.

You are incredibly unlikely to have whitlow. You need to stop worrying about. It's obviously affecting your quality of life at this point.

hi again grace, i know u r sick and tired of me, but the whole whitlow thing is still in y mind so i was thinking really the only way i'll be able to get over it for sure is to get it cultured if it happens again so in the meantime i am waiting for an outbreak and just wanna be cautious. I definitly don't wanna give ths to family members and especially not their kids, but i also wanna enjoy life again.

I just can't shake the fact that one day i was scratching an outbreak and then 7 hours layer i have bumps on my finger it's too much of a coincidence don't u think?

Anyway i am definitly not the mess i was a couple of weeks ago and i will honestly say this board and praying helps me a lot.

While i am waiting for an outbreak on my hands i just wanna enjoy life, family and friends, heheh some board games, hi fives, man all the things we take for granted until u can't do them anymore !

You don't have whitlow so why in the world do you worry about folks touching things you've touched?
