Hoping this finds Grace. (and sorry, i couldn't find the rules on how long the posts are to be word wise)
I have just a couple quick questions and one scenario of my personal life.
I can't find a site that holds the answer to my questions.
I was wondering
1. if a mother ends up with the hsv 1 virus before she was pregnant and her antibodies build up, will those antibodies be passed along to the unborn children during the pregnancy?
If "Yes", does that mean the baby (ies) are infected with hsv 1 ...or...that they just have the antibodies to fight it off and will more than likely not get infected with it?
2. you don't have to have an outbreak in order for your body to produce the antibodies correct?
----and those antibodies would make it extremely difficult for you to spread the virus to any other part of your body, like mainly the genitals?
3. If you did by some crazy experience spready the virus downstairs would you then have genital herpes too??
--- and then have to tell people that you gave yourself gh?
thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm really trying to build up my knowledge on this for myself.
“Situation” with question pertaining to personal dating life”
i posted a while back that i was worried that i may have transferred hsv 1 to my downstairs.. well like a week ago, i had on again off again burning and itching
in this one inside part of my vagina , looked and saw nothing, then a couple days after it continued i looked with a mirror again and found a red bump..i couldn't tell if it was on the skin or under or if it was just one of those natural bumps swollen
..never had a bump in there before that puffed up. After a soak in the bath by the next day it was so shrunk it was almost gone, two days later the burning stopped and bump gone. And now I just have anxiety sensations from not knowing what it was I think.
I’m wondering with this, if this is something I have to tell this guy I’m dating or…no since no open sore took place? I haven’t asked him about his status yet..don’t know how to bring it up…any tips?
I go in in april to have theigG blood tests done for both strains
No need to worry about wording your post. Just keep your questions in a single thread and all is good.
1. My understanding is these antibodies are passed to the child directly. Though I could be wrong.
2. You will always have an outbreak. If you notice it or not is the difference. The inital outbreak will come in 2-20 days. Most typicaly cases are the blisters and so forth. Though the body starts to identfy the virus and build up your immune response to it. The antibodies are what fights the infections from happening at another site of the body. Though we don't know if one is completely immune or highly resistant. We advise people avoid kissing or other sexual
activities while a outbreak is going on regarldess if your partner has the same type. The only different is if you have genital and your partner has genital then you won't get genital hsv again of the same type.
3. You would have genital herpes at that point yes. Though this is more of a fear
with new infections not long standing ones. What you choose to tell people is up to you. :-)
You should be seen if you have symptoms within 24-48hrs to get a lesision culture if you worry about genital herpes. Though this doesn't sound like herpes. Could have been anything.
