asymptomatic viral shedding

    I was just diagnosed with HSV2, I've been doing alot of research and I am pretty paranoid. I read that asymptomatic viral shedding can be spread while touching somebody. for example, if i am having a asymptomatic viral shedding and I touch my kids I can spread it to them. I though you can only spread it with my infected genitalia. Can I sleep naked with my wife during a  asymptomatic viral shedding. I am so confused. I never had any symptons of having HSV2. it asymptomatic viral shedding sympton when your skins feels all tingly or are my nervousnous getting to me.

You aren't going to spread your herpes to anyone you aren't having sex with. This includes routine day to day contact like you have with your kids.

Just sleeping naked isn't going to be a risk to your wife either. It takes some heat and friction to transmit the virus.

Are you daily suppressive therapy if you are hsv2+ and your spouse isn't?

      No the Dr didn't even talk to about it. If my wife is negative will it help if she is on suppressive therapy as well. The other thing is I dont even know if my test is false positive. I found some test cannot tell the differenc from HSV1 and 2. As I explained to Terri. the only sympton I ever had are cold sores, and recently the tip of my penis was hurting for about 8 weeks with no lesions and I had the Dr looked at it.

   Just one more thing, what really bothered me how the Dr just told me Congragulations and was very blunt. I was hoping he would be a bit sympathetic. I had the test 4 weeks out. do you think that is to soon?

no, your wife being on suppressive therapy won't help. You need to be on it to protect her.

If you've been with just your wife you can get the blood test at any point. she's been tested too?
