blister

I noticed a new small blister on the head of my penis, had it checked out... anyway, doc said it doesn't look like herpes but i wonder about this doctor, he said that they don't do blood tests to diagnose herpes, just culture swabs, and when I asked about all the people that don't show symptoms ever he said its the other std's that most people don't get symptoms, but with herpes you do...  I'm wondering if he's just trying to make me relax by lying or if he's mis-informed.

oh, and he also said if it was a blister it would hurt...  is that necessarily so?

Are you sexually active? Why do you think it's herpes? Not everything down yonder is attributed to herpes.

Doctor's aren't there to lie or make a person feel better. Goodness 45+ million folks have genital herpes - it's not leprosy.

But yes, he does sound misinformed. In your case, you had a symptom and went to get treated for it. A small lone painless blister is not necessarily indicative of herpes, but you could in fact get an IgG type specific blood test if you wanted to know your herpes status. It won't tell you the location - only a swab/culture of active symptoms will do that.

i had a sexual encounter with a stranger a month ago... my only one ever.  So i'm worried.

I will get a blood test at 3 months, but thats still far away...
