Number four should say a few months not weeks. Sorry
I will answer your questions in order.
1.no. you are at no risk from random surfaces like door knobs, toliet seats..etc. no need to worry at all.
2.hsv dies very quickly when exposed. It is said hsv can live up to 20 mins in a damp warm towel. Other than this environment where the virus has some protection. Other than that it dies quickly. A few mins tops.
3. About 50-60% of adults have hsv1. Most folks get it as a small child. This is due to thin membranes and low immune systems.
Hsv1 is not a super infectious virus. It needs a break in the skin or to be massaged into a mucus membrane. Not something to be concerned about in day to day life.
4.autoinoculation is not common. Especially when an infection is older than a few weeks. The body produces antibodies that keep the virus in check. I would not worry. Millions of people have hsv1 and ocular hsv is very rare.
5.you are not coming into contact with hsv everyday because the virus is only present during an outbreak or while shedding. The virus does not get transmitted by someone touching their mouth then a door knobs. Then you touching the same door knobs. Like I said you are way over thinking this. It's not an airborne virus and it's weak.
6 absolutely not. Chances of acquiring hsv from oral sex do exist and having receptive oral sex with someone with an active cold sore would be very risky. When no cold sores are present the odds are very low. Not impossible as it happens but againot very low. I'm a 43 year old guy and have been sexually active for almost 30 years. No hsv1 from oral sex.
In my opinion you are WAY overreacting about this. I suggest not thinking about it. Sure if you see someone with a cold sore feel free to avoid contact if you like. Past that, live your life.
