, so went to the docter and he told me that i had caught the herpes virus. when i went for a test, the test came back negative. how is this possible. now im after having another outbreak in my genetal area and i think on my nipple which i didnt think was possible. could some1 please give me some advice and why the test came back negative. thank you
Hey Rob, you didn't mention what type of test you took. If you had blisters the doctor could have taken a sample of the liquid and tested it in a culture dish. You could have also taken a type specific blood test (HerpeSelect is one brand) that lets you know if you have herpes 1 or 2 or both. Find out what type of test it was then post the numbers and I may be able to help you better. If it was an Igg test (the one I mentioned above) you should see results for HSV1 and HSV2. If either of those numbers are below 3.5 then you are not positive. I'm not a doctor and new to this but I've definitely been studying the subject.
