can you still do xyz with herpes

i have genital hsv1. Lets say my partner doesnt have hsv1... i understand the chances of them getting the virus from me in general are pretty low BUT is it possible for him to get it after touching me and then touching himself? or if he were to touch his face/mouth would that then cause him to get coldsores? if he were to touch me and then touch my mouth the chances of giving myself coldsores (since i havent had one yet since i had the genital ob) isnt very likely since i already have hsv in my body, correct?

and since i dont know if i have oral herpes or not since i havent had a coldsore... it is still possible for me to give someone oral herpes if i kiss them/share a glass? and genital herpes thru oral? how possible?

thanks !

well obviously when you have an ob, you are contagious then. the 3-5% shedding rates we mention take into account both obvious recurrences and asymptomatic shedding both.

ok. thanks grace!

this is going to sound really dumb but in being 3-5% contagious all of the time.. if i am having a ob does the number go up? or is it certain that my partner would then get the virus with contact with i were to be having a ob? or is it still just 3-5% chance ob or not?

so really... this is alot less detrimental than it seems from the initial shock, eh?

mutual masturbation is very low risk in general.  he's not very likely to give himself oral herpes from the situation you described.

as an adult, oral herpes is almost exclusively transmitted through romantic type kisses. you aren't going to transmit the virus to someone through sharintg a drink.

yes someone can contract your genital herpes orally from performing oral sex on you but the risk is low.

knowing a partner's herpes status is helpful in determining what precautions to take together.
