Most people infected with genital herpes don't recognize it the first time they are infected, so they might first notice an outbreak many years after first being infected. My best suggestion to you is to have appropriate testing done to rule out or include herpes in the picture. Best of luck with getting this clarified for yourself. A clinician is always useful in these situations.

Herpes can cause scaring in that location yes, but so can other things. Without a rash to swab there is no way to know if your HSV 1 infection is oral or genital. If you have more question, please start a new post.

I did have the rash evaluated by four doctors. two said it was not, one said it looks like it, the other said she was not sure. So I took the blood test and that was the result and again, I have never had unprotected sex and there is noting going on in or around my genital. Now they are sending me to get tested for lime disease, Could you tell me this, dose genital herpes leave scaring? The rash came out at the baste of my spine it looks like an herpetic rash that I saw on the computer on a baby no fluid in the blisters then it got black and dried up. It then leave dark scaring on my back side. Could they have mistaken H2 for H1 thanks and could I have develop immunity for HI that why i never have a rash sorry to bother you but i am confused Thanks B
The result means you are infected with HSV 1, but since you have never had a cold sore on your lip, we can't know if your infection with HSV 1 is oral or genital. Herpes would not cause pain in your ankle. I would advise that you have the rash evaluated by a professional.

Hi nurse I got my result today. these are my result herpes select 1 IGG 7.28 . herpes select 2 IGG is .011 the problems is I have never had a mouth sore or fever blister but I do have a rash on my backside and my lymph nodule is swollen, with pain in my ankle what do you think these result means thanks b
Condoms give some protection, but not perfect protection. If you need help with your lab test interpretations, please make a new post and let us know.

Hi Hi Nurse I went to the clinic to get all the sexually transmissible disease test done. So far I am negative for all except herpes they are running blood test for ONE AND TWO but I was told to my surprise that no condom in the world can protect one from herpes because it is not pass by fluid but genital to genital contact and even though I have no sign on my genital or pubic area since I have rash at the base of my spine that is a perfect sign for herpes two. So is it true that condom give no protection? Because I check that girl body from top to bottom and she had no sign of rash we showed and swam for days and I put sun cream on her because her skin was so pale I was worried about her getting sunburn so I would have seen something. is that true?
Thanks for the information. This is the first time I had an outbreak. The outbreak looks like ringworm and scabbed no fluid but pain in the right buttock and ankle the rash area burns and hurt and my right lymph nodules are swollen. So I would like to know can I have the first out brake six-month three weeks after I had sex. thanks B
Since you are posting on the genital herpes board, my guess is that you are concerned that this rash could be herpes, is that correct? Genital herpes can show up anywhere in the boxer shorts area after an initial genital infection, that could be missed. You've had this "rash" show up a few times now, is that correct? If the rash was blistery or scabbed, then I think you should rule out herpes as a cause. Do you know if you had herpes testing done when you were seen by your internal medicine doc or the urologist? It would have either been a swab or a blood test or both? Though condoms are really quite effective at reducing the risk of herpes transmission, they aren't perfect.
If you were my patient, reporting a history of a recurrent rash on the buttocks preceded by pain and swollen groin lymph nodes I would want to rule out herpes, just to be sure. How about if you check to see if any herpes testing was done, OK?
