blood test. (IGg). We are broke up now. I told him, he SAID he went to his doctor and had a culture...but why would you have a culture if you had no sores? Also he is refusing to get test results for me. He wants me out of his life....he never was like this before. He is seeing a new girl and has had unprotected sex
even since I told him what was going on. He is a 60 year old man. I just don't want someone else to go through this. I am not sure I had this prior to dating him. I am devasated and need help. Thank you.
Did you test positive for hsv1 or hsv2? The majority of the population over 50 would test positive via serology for hsv1 after 50 anyhow so its not anything to breakout about. Welcome to the majority!
Thank you for your comment. Can I pick your brain again? I tested positive for hsv2. It is a HUGE deal for me. I mainly am wondering what may be the percentage chances he contracted it from me...since he is now blaming me. Is there any legal recourse...I have read many articles that are conflicting. I am 50 years old and was married over 27 years with a faithful partner. I have had only 2 sex
partner he had many years ago is positive. Again is there any reason to do a culture if he denies any symptoms? Isn't this a waste of time and money? And is there any way I can demand his test results?
How did you test positive for HSV2? If by blood test, best if you can get the numeric result and post it here. If you've never been tested before, you have no way of knowing how long you've had it or who you acquired it from.
No one can be diagnosed by a culture unless symptomatic. There would be nothing there to culture! Only a blood test can determine one's HSV status in the absence of symptoms.
At this point, as frustrating as it is, you can do nothing to insist your BF get properly tested and know his results. Same with his future partners; it's up to them to decide on having a sexual
relationship with or without requiring they or their partner be tested. Really if he want's nothing to do with you, then I'd suggest you move on and focus on your own life.
Thank you so much. Since I posted the last comment I received past medical records from my family doctor. I had thought I had the "whole works" on an std panel before I started my relationship...yes I did have a serum herpes test in 2005. ALL was negative. My numeric count is 24.5. What do you think? I am so hurt and devasated.
you had a non-specific test which is just about useless. You can't assume you have hsv1 or hsv2 from it . you need to repeat your testing with a type specific test.
you don't need to report to the health department. they don't track herpes infections.
