check for updates Genital HSV1

Hi I wanted to know if there was an any change or update to Dr. Handsfield's answer dated 2007. I have the exact situation with a person I am dating and she directed me to his answer.  Posted below to the question: "can I transmit the virus through kissing even though i was diagnosed with genital hsv-1?"

Dr Handsfield answered: "No.  With a genital HSV-1 infection, you don't necessarily have an oral infection as well.  HSV does not travel through the body between mouth and genitals or vice versa."

Is this still the case?  Any new research or findings since 2007 to update his conclusive "no" answer?
Thanks

Thanks and that applies to both HSV1 and HSV2? I ask because I am paranoid and because HSV1 tends to be oral.

Thanks for your help

Having it genital cannot be passed through oral and vice versa. They are in nerve ganglions. One is in the bottom spine and the other  is at the top spine and it does not travel up and down the spine.
