concerned about spreading oral herpes

I was recently told I have the strain of herpes that causes cold sores. Though I never had a cold sore (at least how they look on other people) but I have gotten a dark spot on my lip that would go away in a couple days with no treatment (prior to finding out I had herpes) now I assume they are my version of a cold sore even though they are not painful, tingling or blister like. Anyway I recently kissed someone when one of these dark spots just went away and that same day we kissed he gave me oral sex...question #1 am I spreading it to him and question #2 can I get it now in the genital area because he kissed me then gave me oral sex
