, Hepatitis ABC & HSV I/II IgG. A nurse at my doctors office gave me a call back a few days later and said that my health was in great shape, and I was "negative" for all STDs. I asked the nurse to mail me a copy of my results, and I just got them today.
Everything said negative, but then I got to page titled "Herpes Simplex Virus Types I/II IgG... The results are as follows.:
HSV I/II IGG; Results: 3.8(Abn: H); normal range 0.0-0.8 status:reviewed
negative 1.0
HSV 2 IGG, Type Spec; Results: <0.91; normal range 0.00-0.90 status reviewed
negative 1.09
I am confused as hell....What does this mean???? I have been trying to read through the archives on this forum, but I do not understand. Why would she say everything was 'negative' if it showes HSV I/II IGG 3.8, which is clearly indicated as being positive (>1.0)????? I got home from work about 4 hours ago and have been glued to this computer since I opened that damn envelope. Will someone help to give some clarity?

Your first test was a combined herpes test. It should've never been drawn because it's not very worthwhile for most folks but it was + which just means that you have either hsv1 or hsv2 perhaps in your body ( lots of false positives with this test too ).
Your 2nd test was a hsv2 type specific test which was negative.
You may or may not have hsv1 - you were not specifically tested for it. Most adults do test + for hsv1 regardless if they can recall obvious oral symptoms or not.
