confuseda about these tests

I tested positive for Hsv 1 IgG, type spec and negative for for Hsv 2 IgG, type spec. (Tests done at Labcorp) Although I had two more tests done that I tested positive for which are both HSV I/II IgG and HSV IgM I/II Combination (These are what I'm confused about!) My doctor told me i was positive for herpes but I'm confused because I know I'm positive but only to HSV 1...and I'm assuming the combintion tests came out positive because of the HSV 1 or am I just fooling myself? My partner tested negative for Herpes so it doesnt make sense to me.. Help please!

Disregard the combination test results. You know you have hsv1 so they will automatically be + and are a waste of time and money.  The igm herpes test is a bad test overall and should NEVER be drawn on you unless you are participating in a research study.

Your hsv1 is +.

Your hsv2 is negative. As long as the type specific test was done at least 4 months after the last time you had had sex, no need for additional testing for herpes.
