constant vaginal burning

I had a herpes type sores in december 2010 for the first time. The sores have gone but since then i have had CONSTANT vaginal burning. It has improved slightly but the burning has continued for nearly 3 months now. It is intolerable and I cant take it any longer. I dont know what to do and it doesnt stop

Is this due to the herpes? I have no sores now

Also in your experience does Herpes (hsv2) always recur or have you had any instances where it has never come back again?

Do the outbreaks really get better with time?

Hi, did you ever find out what was wrong with you?
I have had constant burning, and think it's from hsv-1, it's not official yet, altho my blood test came back positive for hsv1 and negative for hsv2!
I only had one Swab done and it was negative.
But there were other times I should have gotten a Swab but couldn't get in anywhere! It pisses me off, altho I never had an ulcer or blister I've had burning and itching, the burning got worse when I would wipe or walk. One time it hurt really badly to pee, at that time I didn't even think about it being herpes... Now I wish I wlda gotten it swabed

last question- could a hsv2 outbreak last this long and have you ever heard of vaginal burning lasting so long even for a hsv2 infection?
thanks-

I have not heard of an outbreak of HSV 1 lasting for three months, no.  Never.  It doesn't sound at all like a herpes outbreak to me.  It could happen that your first outbreak would be recognized a year later, but again, it wouldn't last this long.

No i dont know about ever having hsv1 until i did the blood test. I dont think i have ever has a coldsore unless it is mild or asymptomatic.

Have you ever heard of an outbreak lasting 3 months ans still continuing.
Is it true that the more severe the outbreak the worse the recurrences will be? The burning doesnt stop. Does this sound like a herpes breakout?

I've not heard of acyclovir working in 30 minutes.  Do you know that you already have HSV ! infection?  Was that from the test or because you have had a cold sore?

I forgot to say the burning comes back the next day after taking acyclovir. I have no sores now. Isnt this a bit atypical?

Hi. No that is definitely the result. I have never has cold sore to my knowledge. I dont think I have had herpes symptoms but can't it be mild or aymptomatic? I had some acyclovir tablets left so I took one and the Burning went within half hour. Is there no way the tablets could have affected the result. Could this be hsv1 after all time? Even a slight chance?

The negative swab test combined with the negative antibody test would strongly suggest that you don't have herpes.  If the exposure was over 6 years ago, it would be extremely unlikely that you would get first symptoms 6 years alter.  Also, if the exposure was 6 years ago, the meds that you took in December would have no impact on antibody development now.   Have you ever in your life had a cold sore?  Your HSV 1 antibody test score is a pretty high negative, you might want to consider taking a western blot, though I seriously doubt that HSV 1 would be causing such significant symptoms anyway.  Are you sure the .98 is not the control value?

I had a swab taken when the lesion was small. it came back negative. the lesion got bigger and bigger and was a little itchy and painful. I started taking aciclovir (given as a precaution) for 6 days. i had a herpes test and it came as hsv1=0.98 and hsv2=0.568.
The exposure was over 6 years ago. I think the aciclovir affected the viral load and hence the tests came back negative but I know that it is herpes. What else could it be?

I have had every other test done and it is all negative. The lesion has gone but there is constant burning as i just dont understand why after 3 months it is still here.

Please help. I wanted children one day and i feel as though i have ruined my life.

Let's step back a moment.  How were you diagnosed with genital herpes?  Was your herpes type 1 or type 2?  Has it been determined that you have nothing else except genital herpes, that is,  has yeast been ruled out as well as bacterial vaginosis?  Let me know the answers to this and then we'll talk more about your other questions.
