could it be?

could it be?

I had an ears infection several months ago, I was treated at my primary MD's and the infection got worse. Soon I was so sick I could hardly move. I soon started getting bells palsey, and the ear pain never went away, when the pain got worse the bells palsey would come back. I have genital herpaes and was diagnosed with this at the age of 18. I went to UNC and they and the nuerologist I see now say it is ramsay hunt syndrome, however they continue to say that the ear aches (which if bad enough result into bells palsey) are not related. I have read and investigated that the herpes virus can cause nerve damage after a certain amount of time. I am 40 years old and have never been through so much pain in my life as this, pain pills do nothing! I take a medication for nerve damage like lyrica and nuerontin and they only work for a short period of time and then the ear pain starts again and then the bells palsey comes back but it only last a short period of time like minutes. I wish I could get a correct answer of what is wrong with me so I could continue on with my life.

I'm sorry but this is way out of our league here.  From what I found online it appears that ramsey hunt is usually associated with herpes zoster aka shingles rather than herpes simplex.  I assume you have been treated with herpes antivirals thru all this too?

I hope you get answers and relief - it sounds like you are in tremendous pain.
