curious about spread of herpes

Hello I was just wanted to know if I was to get pregnant, I have HSV2, and no signs of HSV1, is it possible to pass it along to child by sharing and kissing, Thanks.

are you planning on kissing your child with your vagina? If you don't have oral herpes there is no way you can pass it by sharing and kissing. If you do have oral herpes yeah you can spread it by kissing. But no you can't give your daughter genital herpes unless you kiss her with your vagina..lol

lol, thank u for your help I kinda figured that but my boyfriend wanted 2 make sure, and u should know how it is when u go to the doctor most brush u off, and dont care to educate u about it, n thats mt situation, but thank u very much.

How were you diagnosed?

You're talking about two separate things here: pregnancy and delivering when you are genitally HSV2 positive, and later down the road after the baby is outside the womb, possibly transmitting the virus by kissing the child when having oral herpes. So, I'm a bit confused as to which you're asking. Genital HSV2 only plays a roll in this as to pregnancy/delivery.

Assuming you factually have genital HSV2, then yes, there are recommendations as to suppressive therapy during pregnancy, especially in the last month. No obvious symptoms near the time of delivery and the risk of transmitting the virus to the baby during delivery is less than 1%. Should you have obvious symptoms at the time of delivery or a few days before that, a c-section is recommended.
