Hi There,
I was just diagnosed with a recently contracted CMV infection. I've also had Epstein Barr Virus/Mono in the past. The CMV really took a toll on my body. I know if you read up on CMV on the internet, it tells you most people don't have symptoms, which is true - but I was one of the unfortunates who did have severe symptoms. I'm not immunosupressent (so far as I know) but there's some research that points to having both EBV & CMV can make the symotms worse. I had severe body aches, intermittent fevers, night sweats, an enlarged spleen and liver, enlarged abdominal lymph nodes, abnormal liver function levels, fatigue and significant anemia.
It's definitely possible to have CMV with no symptoms, but symptoms can occur and when they do they usually mimic the symptoms of mono. If you have any questions about CMV or EBV, feel free to contact me.
they typically do not treat cmv unless you are immunosuppressed. As yi308 correctly said, most of us contract cmv at some point. Unless you are pregnant and this is a newly acquired cmv infection or have had an organ transplant, it's really not an issue.
what made you get tested?

A doctor once told me that most people are exposed to CMV and don't have apparent symptoms. I had it along with mono/EBV.
