doubts about testing

Hello all. I already posted about my oral sex exposure. Its been 75 days till now. Today i went to a doctor. He did not even listen to me properly. He just said that oral sex does not transmit hiv and told me to undergo hsv, igg tests. I will get my reports tomorrow. Can i please know what are these tests for??? Is there any chance of detecting hiv with these tests?? I also gave them my urine sample.   Thank you for all people doing wonderful job in this forum and may God bless all.

the herpeselect is a type of igg testing - it's a specific brand like coke is a brand of cola.  make sense?

you never needed the testing done that you had done even .  don't stress yourself out with more testing - move on past this encounter.

I also have a small doubt. Is the herpeselect test and igG test one and the same or they both differ???

there was no reason for any hiv or herpes testing from this encounter.

Ige testing wasn't proper testing for std testing. no idea why you had it done.

herpes igm tests are very flawed and we don't recommend them being done. most are not type specific either which makes them less han useful.

your hsv2 igg is negative.

Your IgM testing was worthless.  For the other test I can't answer.  I will defer to grace.

I just got my results for hsv igg tests. Its clear for me to some extent. I hope you can help me to understand my results better. Am posting my results ....                                 HSV  II   IgG ANTIBODIES   0.27
HSV IgM ANTIBODIES   0.32
IgE     107/lu/ml

Doctor said that am normal and i dont need further testing. He said that this test is for herpes.   Doctor also said that there is no need for hiv testing since i engaged in oral sex.  Its been 75 days now. So am i free from all possible STDs?? Do i need any further testing. Kindly advise me.

You need to post on the HIV forum for anything specific to that.

An IgG type specific blood test will tell you your herpes status for both HSV1 and HSV2. If you've never been tested before, and the current test comes back positive, you have no way of knowing when you acquired it (most of us with oral herpes acquired it in childhood).
