About 4 1/2 weeks ago I noticed an itch/irritating feeling at the base of the glans of the penisCancer - penis Curvature of the penis Penis care (uncircumcised) Penis pain. There was a minor redness at the base of the glans on one side. I felt it was just an irritation and showed it to my dermatologist who thought nothing of it and said don't worry (it was very mild in appearance then). It bothered when my clothes rubbed so I tried some vasaline like ointment to stop any rubbing. A week later it was worse and the PA told me to use a steroid ointment, 4 days later it was not helping so we switched to balmex. 4 days later it was worse and there was a much more red section and it was extending at the base and along the midline to where the mark is from circumcision. It seemed to follow mostly the folds of skin at the base of the glans (I am circumcised so no forskin) There was also a small amount of scaling so the PA did a skin scrape and found spores like Candida. He put me on econazoleEconazole nitrate Econazole topical and within 4 days the darker redness went down and the ithching was less but the skin still itched/burned and was pink/red in the same areas. It is now over 4 weeks and there is still pink skin and irritation/itching. I saw the derm again and he said the extent of itch was unusual for the degree of redness, changed the econazol to nystatinNystatin Nystatin topical Nystatin vaginal Nystatin-triamcinolone Nystatin-triamcinolone topical in case the yeast was not fully sensitive. Back 3 years ago I had been told someone I had protected sex with and a 2 second oral contact with (oral/genital) had herpes (not from actual person and that never confirmed.) I was tested about 10-11 weeks later by Herpes Select and it was negative. Never had any symptoms from that time and in a monogomous relationship with claimed negative person since. Is it possible that this is herpes, especially with consistant irritation/itch for 4 plus weeks. The derm and PA thought it did not look like herpes when they saw it previously though that subjected did not come up with the derm today.
