false Positive herpes IgG Blood Test ?

by regretor, Jul 20, 2009 07:59PM
I had unprotected oral sex recently and went for a blood test two weeks later.

The result showed I am Herpes Type 1 positive as below :

Herpes Type 1 IGG     935 units/ml

Negative            400

Herpes Type 2 IGG     130 units/ml

Negative             300

Am I considered as infected by Herpes Type 1 ?  What is the chance of false positive result for IGG ?

Thanks
Regretor

You should wait four months for more accurate blood tests after possible exposure. negative in specific IGG tests after such time should be quite conclusive.
