genital HSV to mouth to genital

by deep157, Nov 03, 2009 01:50PM
My long term femail partner and I have the same HSV2 of the genitals and have always performed sex and oral sex with each other without knowingly contracting herpes of the mouth. we have never made love when genital sores are present and we have both been free of sores for over 12 years.

I have now started a relationship with a new partner and would like to know if there is any real risk I have oral Herpes from my previous partner that could be transfered to my new partner if we kiss or have unprotected oral sex ?

Thank you

it's not likely that you have hsv2 orally.

Have you read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com yet? It's a terrific free resource for you and your new partner so that both of you can become better educated on herpes.

Has your new partner been tested for herpes?

Are you on suppressive therapy?

Odds are that you didn't have very good testing done when you were originally diagnosed too.  have you done any follow up testing to be sure that you have hsv2?

Thanks Grace, il check out the handbook.
im being retested this week and have all the technical questions ready, I will go on the suppressive therapy
im pretty sure i have HSV2 as i had around 5 or 6 outbreaks during the early years as did my previous partner but we became able to control it i guess as we built up antibodies.

Thank you again

ok so i saw the UK Sexual Health specialist and was so disapointed.

no offer of suppressive therapy
no tests for HSV1 or 2 just HSV in general
and no blood antibody tests
overall i gained nothing
so im trying to find some suppresive antiviral pills from someone!!!!!

the gum clinics don't do the type specific testing. did you see a private provider?
