help asap! Re hsv blood testing

i just had the same thing happen my doctor ordered a hsv blood sample to be drawn and 2 weeks later she called me which was suprising because they never call unless you have something and i have never had ANYTHING in my entire life! The only thing she told me was that the numerical number was 1.3 something and she said it was positive and people normally with herpes outbreaks their number was over 5 which really confused me. I have not had any symptoms or anyhting so im confused i was just going to my doctor getting my annual pap and std testing once a year since i only have one partner! My partner was tested and everyhting was negative. I'm scared i dont know what to do i have to talk yo my doctor first thing 8 am!

update: so over 4 months and still no symptoms upon all that no one in michigan does conformation testing like w/bio kit etc...so i was going to go to new york to see dr gilbert at the montifore medical center and he told me not to come because i guess the bio kit has cut off/faint line issues as well (i guess it was hard telling weather or not ur borderline negative or positive because the pink pregancy test like line was to faint to tell i dunno lol)  so he told me to get an hsv 1& 2 immunoblot instead of an alissa (crazy test that gave me hopefully a false positive in the first place) because some people will test positive with one and negative w the other test which is strange but he also told me that some peoples igg is always under 3.5 even thoough they are negative (and not at the .90-equvi.. cut off the cdc determined) so i dunno im just posting info incase someone is in the same boat hopefully it helps someone like it helped me :)

i am so upset/furious w the detroit planned parendhood clinic and i have a right to be! for the two years i went there i asked to b tested for "everything" all of a sudden  1.  They cant find my records from 01-06(today i called the warren location and she found them w-in 20 min. not even-i have been asking the detroit/warren location for over 2 months for them) 2.  They havent been testing me for everything like i requested and when i asked for my results and chart-all their lies come out about false testing/results they didnt do!!!  3.  They were supposed to b testing me for hsv 1 and 2 w/both (igm & igg numbers)when i got my chart sat for years 07-08 las sat. which was supposed to b ready 2 months ago and i still had to wait over 30 minutes just to pick it up!and then i find out who ever called me w my relults from my hsv 2 test lied about my reluslt number and even having the igm done!they are reckless and not correctly (under-diagnosing) people let alone losing records with important pt info can we say major hippa violation infaction. if i did (hopefully not and its a low false positive) have it i could have given it to someone else but thank God all my partners are negative!!!!!both my tests resluts are pointless at this point because they didnt do the correct tests at a very strict window of time because if i do have it my igm could have dissapeared by now and show a false negative.now i have to go and pay more money and get poked again (after 2 times already this would b number 3 ridiculus!!and i'm anemic)URGH!!!I wish i never went to the detroit clinic for 2 years. today i made another appointment w the warren clinic(from now on who will continue to do my testing) for nov 4th to be tested for hsv 1 and 2 along w both igm and igg numbers(what i requested over 2 months ago)and then i have to wait another 2-3 weeks for results then if still a low positive i still have to go to bronx n.y just to have a conformation test done(which is going to cost me another 200)!i'm so fed up lol i just thank God i dont have anything down below Most "educated-some(mostly) arent" doctors (internal med.,infectious disease,and virologists) say if i havent had any symptoms by month 2/3 more than likely i dont have it. they say it's less than 20% chance that i might b asymptomatic but i want to know for sure w/o paying over 500 for a western blot.i on top of that i still need to find an internal medecine doctor becaue it could b an underlying health problem like shingles,ebv,lymes disease etc.. who knows :(

lol ur right it's just the detroit clinic because i never had a problem w the warren clinic lmfao y in heavens name didnt i keep going to the original location! i'm scared to have the same test re done and it b a positive or especially if its over 3.0/3.5. what if it comes back at a low positive agiain under 3.5/3.0 does that mean i can never use the focus test and would always have to use a rapid assay until my body finishes up its crazyness antibodies thing or whatever is going on that keeps making low positives? (if that makes sense lol i know ur gonna kill me :)  ) will i ever have a negative test if i dont have it (or always make a low positive)? i'm going to go to n.y. next month its only going to cost me $40 to have the test done including office visits but another maybe 100 to travel (under 200) which is considerbly less than a wb. i still have to get tested for hsv 1 (now i have to get poke again :( ) i'm really in a pickle!!!!

well it differs from clinic to clinic and isn't a reflection on the organization as a whole :)

I think at this point why not just repeat your whole herpes igg blood test?  You can go thru www.healthcheckusa.com or www.tstd.org if you don't have a regular doctor. see what things are now and go from there.

i told planned parenthood to have all my recoreds ready when i came in over 2 weeks ago to pick them up (they werent ready when i went in- then called later and they told me they were ready).not only did they loose all my records from 01-07 (2 weeks ago they were supposed to be finding "all" of them in) went in today records still werent ready and they were incomplete info/tests missing (they told me my igm was negative but no copy in records just igg). at this point i hope no one goes to planned parenthood unless they are picking up birth contro they are TOTALLY DISORGANIZEDl!!! also then they were supposed to be testing me for hsv (1 and 2) y did they only test me for hsv 2 so now i have to get pocked again to be tested for hsv 1. uurrgghhh :(

this is craxy what do i have to go through just to find this stoopid test!!!!!!!  i have called every std, dermatologist (in michigan), bio kit (since they told me i would have to go to chicago but it seems like i might have to take a mini vacation which is cheaper than having the western blot), even their distrubuters like fisher scientific, hardy diagnostics (who distribute to hospitals and doctors) etc...even hospitals dmc, u of m, henry ford and they all told me they dont have it! they told me i could order it but i would need the doctor order it (if they wanted to not all do) and see if they can order the test but everytime i call a doctors office to find out if they can order it they all act like its a big secret and tell me they dont know if the doctor can/will order it but want me to make an appointment. How is that helping me if they cant order the stoopid test why make an appintment uurrggghhh! Everytime i call somewhere and ask for the test pople act like i'm speaking a foriegn language or something it's like no one thinks to use a conformation test when diagnosing people w no smptoms everyone relies on one test the focus elissa test! are most of these doctors nieve/stoopid/unaware when diagnosing people that there are other test etc..or refer you to for resoucres/information/anyone to help you it's like why are they performing theses test then w out following up? i'm doing work my doctor should be doing like what did i pay her for? uuurrrggghhh very frustrated still searching....

nations best lol according to "national research corporation" just because it says so does not mean it literally! Any hospital with magnet recognition status has quality service Henry Ford Hospital is not one of then but Univerity of Michigan is one even Childern's Hospital. There are several agencies ranking hospitals and they are not all equel. The best hospitasl in the nation (U.S) are john Hopkins and the mayo clinic etc..  sorry when you work for hospitals you see the cracks and they have gaps even DMC they all suck if you ask me now a days you have to be yor own investigative doctor insurance companies and the government are running our health care system! I dont trust other health care professionsls and even though i am one lmfao! even DMC couldnt get magnet recognized just leap frog recongnized! :( dont trust everyhting you see investigate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol Henry Ford i used to work there for 4 years and i really dont like them. i work at dmc going on 2 years and i dont like them either there just as bad if not worse! I really dont trust any hospitals,labs etc....at this point sorry. I would not go as far as saying one of the best health systems i would say maybe beaumont or Univeristy of Michigan have better rankings than both! (bright idea try them as well lol) I thank you so much grace if it werent for you and all this research i'm finding i would have never known anyhting. i always though that if you had burning, itching, blisters, etc... or had symptoms after sex you had it and need to go to an obgyn or std clinic.I was just really going in to have my pap smear done to make sure i dont have any abnormal cells or cancer below which i'm always scared about since it runs in my family. i learn something new every day of every minn. yeah i'm still trying to find someone who uses the rapid hsv igg bio kit because i cant afford alsomst 300 (let alone 20 for other tests) and to wait another 2-3 weeks i would go bonkers well cant say that because it has been just about that long. I was going to use the western blot as a last resort but i could try other tests as well so i dunno i just feel like a guinea pig in a bad experiment that went deadly wrong if that makes sense i dunno

I got my testing done at Henry Ford and on my paper it says "test performed by Bayer Centaur chemiluminescence method". Is that the name of the test?? If so, have you heard of it Grace?

You should be able to get a WB  for herpes thru quest labs if a provider near you uses them ( they are one of the largest labs in the country ).  

At this point I think the biokit is out of the question for you since no one near you offers it.

Have you tried the Henry Ford system?? I'm also from the Detroit area and know that Henry Ford is one of the nation's best health systems, I feel like theres someone in that system that could help you and get the proper test. I've always had good experiences with them.

I feel like a guinea pig with one person maybe listening to me! I called the number for the rapid bio hsv 2igg kit and they told me i would have to go to chicago to have it done i'm from michigan lmfao!!!! i know there has to be somebody to offer it here in michigan i guess my problem is getting bigger and bigger now i have to call every std clinic and dermatologist to find it now. well im finishing up my period like you all really want to hear that but i'm sorry but i still have no symptoms i see y they say not to have the test done w no symptoms asymptommatic issues everything else who knowa i dunno what to do at this point i work at a hospital and i exhausted all my work/web/lab/doctor resources not even the main std clinic in detroit could help me how come no one knows about this? urgh :(

I know this is crazy i'm getting all my records and going to a lab that does the bio select test on the spot and hopefully it will be all over with or get enough money to do the western blot. I'm so upset w palnned parenthood because they lost all my records from 2001( when i first started goint there) to 2007 and they dont know what test they used or what lab they sent it to which is ridiculus and unprofessionsal since they did the test twice and dont know!  They said they were going to call me somettime this week when they found all my information because i want a copy of everything. Then i talk to other people (doctors, lab techs etc...) and they told me the test will never be at zero and since i never had syptoms i should have never gotten the test done i dunno how true that is? The doctor just slapped me with a book with no paper test results and with no symptoms and they told me she should have researced it a little more especially w no symptoms to treat. then they tell me they cant even do a scrape culture because people that have outbreaks almost all of them come back negative and they told me mine would deffinatly come back negative since i never had an outbreak. If the test is never at zero then what type of antibodies versions of hsv does it pick up one lady told me if you have deer tick lymes disease or menagitius it would defitnatly come back paoitive so i dont know if this is serious stress related now even worse because of this going on or some underlaying health problem. I just thank God it's not down there! my sex history was posted on sept 16, 2008  so i dunno :( dissapointed then one person tells me if you have it and your asymptomatic that it a mystery disease meaning it can come and go based on stress which had me even freaking out more!

Since your partner is negative ( we'll assume that they were properly tested ), as long as it's been more than 4 months since either of you had sex with someone else, at this point getting a WB to confirm your status is the best course of action. it's still a low positive and needs further confirmation.

:( they finally called back w my results it was higher than the first at 2.39 and i dont have any symptoms not even a hair bump!!!!  HELP they told me the test was through lab corp. how accurate is there testing or should i have it re done 3-4 mos? or even with the focus test, wetern blot i dunno i'm freakin out right now!!!!!!!!!!! :(--- How do i even explain this to my present and past partners and their negative?

I hate planned paredhood i have to find myself a new doctor:(  i called again and still no results they tell me maybe thursday-tomm/friday/saturday like which day is it going to be already? When i went in for the retest she was over a hour late for my appointment and she still hasn't told me the rest of my results were negative which the secretary and i found in a pile of paperwork on saturday when i went in for a retest and then she told me it would b ready this wednesday and she would call me regardless and still no phone call, so i called again then the receptionist says it may be about a week! what? I told my doctor i was gonna go somewhere else teusday and have it drawn and it would be back in 2-3 days versus wainting on them for a whole week! Are they purposely messing w me or something like this is the last thing i need right now other than the number to be higher but i'm still praying it's negatieve so all this can be behind me!!!!!!!

i dont know what is going onmy doctor told me she would call me around 12/1 and she still havent. i was dreading calling for the results but i finally got the nerve to call and they told me it hasnt come in yet but  they close at 6 and to try back because if its negative she said no one is going to call me. i'm so much a freakin nerve wreck right now. i have to find me a new doctor after all this is over! i'm still praying its negative so it can be over! but i was talking to this lady who worked at a lab and she was also telling me that at least 20% of people are asyptomatic and dont even have outbrakes or anything which i thought was really weired and she said the lady had been married for 25 yrs and her husband is still negative but she still tests at a low positive! i dunno i havent had sex in over a month i would have had something by now?i dunno. I pray to God it's negative! i dont have any symptoms for my doctor to treat and i dont know what to do wait till something happens i cant do that my doctor also told me you could have an outbreak and still test negative like i really dont see the point of the test if you dont have symptoms and you can still test negative if you have it Help this is so confusing!

I was tested on the 3rd sept. and agian on the 13th of sept. it's the now the 16 of sept. and the last time i had sex was on the 28 th of aug. unprotected and that was over 20 days ago and i dont have anyhting. I have been with this same partner since november of last year and he has been tested back in november and again in july/aug. and both his results were negative. I'm jsut really scared i have never had anyhting in my life! How is this possible? I just really need someone to talk to i even had my x boyfriend looking in case i missed something (were just real good friends no sex) Thanx again

I thank God everyting else came back negative when i went backi n to have my blood drawn again. Lord Jesus help me i hope the next test comes back negative i have never had anyting not even something to make me itch the only reason i went in was to have my pap smear and std check ups i get once a year. All my partners are negative so i dont know she said she would let me know wed. i knew everything else was negative before the doc did becuase my results were back and no one was ging to call me till next week which is crazy becase if i hadnt went back in to get retested the clerkwouldnt have  looked thgough the paper work until next week and after the doc was an hour late for my app. :( pray for me!
