and it was neg. but the dr. said they got a culture. also what does the hsv1/2 igg 1.1 and 1.3 pos mean why are these always pos. and everything else is neg?
this all started 3 years ago same partner for last 17 years and my husband has had no symptoms last sorry i misunderstood your question my very 1st blood test that was done was hsv1/2 igg 1.5 pos. hsv.1 igg type spec. neg hsv2 type spec. neg. this test was done 2-3 weeks after i notice the ulcer but i had been with the same guy for 14 years. i hope that this makes sense.
Herpes lesions will heal up on their own even without treatment. healing once you start topical steroids doesn't help answer the question of if it's herpes related or not.
So this all happened 3 years ago - the symptoms or the blood testing? Have you continued to have issues down yonder for 3 years or was this a once and done thing?
it started 3 years ago no symptoms since then last blood test done was done in nov. of 08 it was a herpeselect hsv1/2 igg 1.3h pos. hsv1 igg type spec. <0.91 neg.and hsv-2 igg type spec. <0.91 neg.
it wasn't a herpeselect with the way you posted your results unless the lab first does a non-type specific test and then does the herpeselect as the type specific test.
At this point there's no way to know if this was genital herpes or not at the time of your symptoms. Your blood tests point in the direction of it not being hsv2 but it's not easy to confirm hsv1 genitally unless you get a lesion culture and typing of active symptoms done. Even the best blood tests we have still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections but even if the blood test was + for hsv1, no way to know if it's oral or genital without a culture and typing of active genital lesions.
So if your symptoms ever return, go be seen that day or the next to have them evaluated and tested. If you can convince hubby to get tested to know his own status, even better answers for you.
