herpes, uti, chapped lips?

Ok, so about a week ago I had unprotected oral sex with a guy(Im a guy as well) i sucked him, he sucked me. two days later I devoloped symptoms similar to a urinary tract infection, Ive also had really chapped lips for the past 4 days I believe. I went to doctor on third day and he checked urine, it came out negative but then he said something like "sometimes when you culture it it will be positive." He went ahead and prescribed me ciprofolxacin. My lips are really chapped and Im afraid it may be herpes

Chapped lips aren't herpes.

Not having obvious lesions makes it less likely that this is due to herpes.  sounds like your provider is covering the bases at this point so just continue following up with them.

Have you ever been tested to know your own herpes status?

My toungue also got burned two days ago and feels same, also i have one bump in pubic area near base of my penis where I shave, has been there a few days, may be razor burn. But Im just paranoid since guys normally dont get urinary tract infections. I have frequent urination, tingling inside the head of the penis. Sorry if I sound paranoid. And I asked doctor if he could test and he said that unless warts or blisters show up he cant. Maybe another doctor has a way of testing. This guy was my first sexual encounter in months and  we didnt even ***, just sucked down there and made out.

  If your urine culture comes back negative and you are still having pain after 3 days or so of the cipro, it's worth returning to your doctor for further evaluation.  They may need to work you up for ngu which can occur from oral sex too.  

You can have herpes cause a urethritis but typically there are also external lesions that accompany it.  

have you ever been tested for herpes to know your own status?

Im just curious to know whether or not herpes can make my tongue or lips feel weird or crack. There is one really small sore on my upper from where its been dry. I just wanna be sure, wanna know EVERYTHING!

It's a shame that no culture was sent out. Would've given you answers as to if this was bacterial or fungal too.

at this point, you have no answers. follow up with your provider as needed. If you feel you have developed a cold sore too then see your provider today or tomorrow for a lesion culture and typing of the oral symptoms.

Yes you can have fungal infections of the skin ( including the lips ) and also of the urine as well as many other culprits out there.  The flora that is normal in the mouth, isn't always so normal when it gets into the urogenital tract.

so can the fungus mimic a UTI or herpes? My penis doesnt have any blisters but dut does look slightly red at times. And would this be curable, Im still having symptoms. What are the chances I contracted both herpes in mouth and genitals?

You also can even get viral infections of the urogenital tract too.

at this point if you are still having symptoms monday, follow up on it with your provider as I already recommended.

One more question, I gave him fellatio and he gave me fellatio. chances are its herpes type 1 right? I dont want herpes but atleast type 1 is less sever I believe? If I suck a penis chances are Id be more at risk for getting type 1 and vice versa?

Hello,

I had sex in May with my ex-husband who seemed to have a virus that was going around. I got scratched during sex. I used aloe vera gel to keep from itching or buring becase I exercise alot and I thought the sweat would irritate it. The gel just made it worse...as days passed, I started to get a sore throat, mild body aches, hemorrhoids, sore groin, sensitivity on my thighs. Long story short, got tested at a clinic and I got a positive for HSV 2. My reading was >5 igg Index, type specific. The doctor said that because of the levels I must have had it for awhile. My ex-husband should have his results in a few days. His doctor doesn't think he has it. He's in the military so he just got tested a couple of months ago and got a negative and he showed no symptoms.  

Question 1: If I ate before I took the blood test would that have altered my results?
Question 2: How long is "for awhile"? I got re-tested today at my doctor's office. It'll be a week before the results come back.

Ok, the symptoms went away and came back a week later. I have had them for almost two weeks and have been on cipro again for a week and I have pressure on bladder, frequent urination. I have no lesions but my genitals have been tingling and a litte sore the whole time symptoms are present. my penis does not have lesions or blisters but does feel a little sore. If I have herpes wouldnt blisters appear down there by now, or do I most likely have a weird urinary tract infection. would like to know whats wrong since they cant test for herpes without blisters.

You can get a type specific herpes igg blood test done without symptoms but if it only comes back as hsv1+, it still gives you no more answers than you had before .

I recommend following up with an urologist at this point.

awww. You poor thing. I am not a dr. but I am a nurse who's read up quite a bit on herpes and I would like to tell you , you do not have herpes but if you haven't taken the igg blood test then you will not really know for sure right? So insist on that....they can test you for that look it up on google ...it's a one day result..it's extra money but you should find out becuz it sounds like you are really going crazy over it. Also if your penis is red it could be from the uti you sound like you have. So don't jump to any conclusions especially since you don't have blisters the hallmark sign of herpes outbreak. And if it's a new infection it would of been itchy or painful I would imagine. Good luck.

Its just slightly itchy and little soreness, nothing that keeps me from work or enjoying life, just really cant masturbate too much right now. But yeah I will get blood tested, the sex enounter was july 17th, should I wait? I heard it can take awhile to get good results. If I do have something I dont want to give it to my boyfriend, whom Im now in a monogamous relationship with. If you have had symptoms that have gone away I'd imagine your body would of made antibodies already. i'd go get the blood test igg antibodies for herpes. I know you said july 17th well it's almost  2 months now. It says some places you must wait 3 mos. atleast to be 97%-100% accurate. This is  the newer test and some drs. office still test igm which some people say is out of date and will be inaccurate. So yes get an igg blood test for herpes drawn asap. It should rest your conern.

well i would like to say here as well that even if you have sex with a condom you can still catch the herpes virus from a partners asymptomatic shedding. It's horrible and I wish more people knew what exactly it means when they say use a condom but abstinence is the best. Condoms are worth trying but I don't understand how so many people can be into casual sex when condoms slip , break, and also don't protect you from getting herpes if there are even small lesions on the thighs scrotum, butt, etc.  Be safe...find a monogamous relationship...that's the best way of staying clean. We need sex so to say abstain is like saying become a nun.

And would it be unlikely that Ive had an outbreak for three weeks without hardcore blisters? Antibiotics have done nothing, two courses of cipro and one course of bactrim. Doctor told me urine was cloudy but no bacterial presence. Looks like the igg blood test is my only option.

this has been going on for awhile now. It's unlikely to be due to herpes as I've been telling you all along.  You need to move past the idea of herpes. Just redness and itching is far more likely to be a fungal infection than anything else at this point.

Continue to follow up with your doctor and your urologist as I previously recommended. As I have told you a few times now, this is past what a free online forum can help you much with.
