Okay so for about the last year I have been going crazy with anxiety. Last year in about sept/oct while I was seperated from my husband I had unprotected sex
. Well since me and my husband have been back together I just can't stop thinking about if I have an STD. I constantly think that I have herpes 2. I haven't had any blisters but I get this pimple on my vaginal
. I do have a history of folliculitis down there that I had last november. I know it was folliculitis in november because it was all over my pubic hairs and none even near my vaginal entry. I also saw a doctor at that time and was given a RX for folliculitis. Those were not blisters either and each bump had a hair in the middle. I just keep freaking out everytime that a single pimple shows up down there. In April I went to planned parenthood for a bacteral infection and I had the doctor look at the pimple since I had it at that time. She said that it just looked like a pimple or ingrown hair. But I told her that is the second time it has been there so she said that it could be herpes but that it couldn't be cultured because it didn't have anything to culture. So I decided to go ahead and fork out the money for the herpes blood test. Well that was 6 months past my most recent exposure and the blood test came back negative. It has been almost a year since my questionable experiences. Based on my negative blood test at 6 months is it safe to say that I can move on and live my life? Also, is it possible to just get a pimple or ingrown hair in the same place?
Testing 6 months is more than enough time to get an accurate blood test result. Most medical experts would have been fine at 3 months, some even at 6 weeks based on your symptoms.
So it is possible to get a pimple or ingrown hair in the same place? I just want to move on and stop obsessing but everytime I get a pimple down there I freak out and think about it all over again. I thought once I got my 6 months negative results I would feel better but now that it's been almost a year I keep thinking of going back and doing a one year test. Thank you for your time!
Of course you can have a pimple in the same place again and again.
Its my opinion that its very hard to mistake herpes with a pimple. Ask yourself these questions:
1. The early stages of genital herpes usually begins with a tingle feeling somewhere from your waistline to your knees. Did you experience this BEFORE you noticed the pimple?
2. The area often itches. Do you recall unusual itching in the same location that your pimple appeared?
3. The area will often be red and later small bumps will appear. Was the area that the pimple red before you noticed the pimple.
4. A genital herpes sore will look like a tiny blister. Similar to a very small burn. The fluid inside the blister is usually clear. The fluid inside a pimple is puss. Was the fluid clear or was it puss-like?
