herpes 5.00
I just tested positive for herpes. The doc says it is type 2 but i have had canker sores for over 6 months now. She says they arent nothing to worry about. So today I got my first blister in teh inside of my mouth. Is this my first outbreak? Do i have type 1 or 2 or both? and what does 5.00 mean?

many things can cause canker sores from foods you eat, toothpastes, chewing gum, illness and even hormones. sometimes you can find something to avoid to decrease the number you get but not always. cinnamon flavoring, complete, total, whitening and tartar control toothpastes are culprits. spicy foods and acidic foods. sour candies. all can trigger them.
thx grace, yes it was HSV2. And I keep getting the canker sores, its so weird. i get so many at the same time.
if your hsv2 igg was over 5 then that means you are + for hsv2 and it's not likely that it's a false positive.
were you also tested for hsv1?
lesions inside the mouth are typically canker sores and not oral herpes. hsv2 rarely occurs in the oral area.
