in 1/2009 I was exposed to herpes. In 2/2009 I was tested positive for herpes type one and negative for herpes type two. In April the samething and once again in 9/2009 with the same results. Now, 1/2010 I am positive for both type two and type one. What are the possibilities that I got a false negative all those time or a false positive this time? The test used was the biokit brand.
You definitely have type one herpes. The odds of having 3 false positives for type 1 are something like 1 in 1,000,000.
If you haven't had any additional exposures at all you probably do not have type 2 as it is more likely that you have on false positive than two false negatives. If you've engaged in any high-risk behavior however you may have both HSV-1 and HSV-2.
. Also, the first guy in January was positive for herpes type two maybe that's why I would more think I got it from him if I do have it, but like I said it has been a year.
Hi grace,
are you saying that it might be a false positive?
I'm asking all over. It's bothering me a lot. It has been lurking in my mind for a long time now. I'm tying to find answers so I can move on. I think it's bothering me more now because I am starting a new relationship an out of now where a test that has been negative for nine months is now positive after a year.
