I was in a long committed relationship (so i thought) for many years and contracted the hiv virus. I have been in a relationship now for a while but am scared that i have contracted herpes from my current partner. what damage can herpes do for me who is already hiv+? i will go to my doctor and check but i have little bumps on my shaft and on the head of my penis. can you tell me so i can relax... or not.

A type specific herpes igg blood test will tell you your status. If you do test + for hsv2, being hiv + also it's recommended that you take daily suppressive therapy so that the hsv2 doesn't further complicate the hiv.

If you do test + for hsv2, come back and I'll give you a few good articles to read for more info if you want them.
