herpes and hiv

I found a rough spot on my gentals about a month ago and it turns out to be herpes.  The problem im having is that it has been 5 weeks and still is there. Could i have hiv too? I tried valtrex but it didnt leave all the way then it came back right away. Im scared ! please help!

Have done any test? How do you know that was Herpes? Anything diagnose through internet. You need lab test.

i saw a doctor and had a test done. the blood test came back herpes 2 . They just wont go away. btw i think i got the herpes about 1 1/2 years ago but this is the first skin outbreak. when i contracted the herpes  it was missed because i had no rash. I took a hiv test at that time but it was 3 week after i had unprotected sex with this girl. too soon?

even if you do have hsv2, that doesn't mean that everything that goes on in the genital area is herpes related.

return to your provider and get this looked at again. odds are it isn't a herpes recurrence lingering this long.

also if you can get a copy of your herpes blood test results to post here, I can better help you with that part too. all I need to see are the actual numeric results - eg hsv1 igg 3.4 and hsv2 igg 2.3 or whatever they are.

you need to wait 3 months post encounter for hiv testing.

i dont have the blood test here but it showed i had antibobys for herpes from the past and that there was a current outbreak.            My  provider did  looked at it again and said thats herpes no doubt! im freaking out ! Not about herpes but about hiv!

it sounds like your provider was misinterpreting the herpes igm results as meaning you have a current ob. there are false positive issues with the hsv2 igg too which is why having me look at your test results is also very helpful for you.  

if you have hiv questions they should be asked on the hiv forum.  your testing for hiv was done too early but odds are in general that you didn't pick up hiv.

that doesn't really sound like herpes actually.  definitely follow up on this monday properly with an exam.
