I have never, ever, ever wiped down a toilet seat because of my herpes.  In this house, I consider it a miracle if the bathroom gets cleaned properly monthly to be honest.

You don't  need to worry about this. Not sure how else I can word that for you so that you can start believing it.

also i keep thinking about the statistics 90 % don't even know they have it, I am sure those 90 % could have children and don't wipe down seats or think twice about it, I think the fear is knowing, and knowing that maybe i could be a bad mom and that my kids probably deserved a better mom who didn't endanger them on a daily basis.

Not to beat a dead horse, but you did tell me to stop worrying right? I'm sorry I think I am just in shock, I am really working hard on talking to myself and trying not to think about it, I am definitly getting better but it creeps up on me and I find myself here. I am sorry once again,

folks who think they are getting herpes from toilet seats, are folks who don't have providers who are knowledgeable about the virus to tell them that they aren't getting it from toilet seats. If it was easy enough to get from a toilet seat, 90% of us would have hsv2!!!!!

Even if you had an active lesion that came into contact with the seat, you got off and your child got on to pee, it's still incredibly unlikely that you would transmit hsv2 to them. The skin on their buttocks and thighs is too thick for the virus to easily penetrate into to infect from the simple act of just sitting briefly to urinate.  Cleaning off the seat when you do have active lesions that come in contact with it, is just erring on the side of caution ( and good hygiene - anytime you have any open sores that come in contact with a toilet seat, regardless of their cause, you should wipe off the seat )

This is not something that needs to be on your daily list of 3, 254, 678 things to worry about your kids about I promise :)

does that mean i could have exposed her, I mean a lot of peole get it on their butt and thighs which touch the toilet. I'm just curious because i read somewhere on the internet that people have claimed to get it from the toilet seat. I was glad until u said
" unless you had a lesion on an area that comes in contact with the seat ( ie upper thigh or outer buttocks for the most part )."

no you did not endanger your children! You don't have to wipe down the toilet after you use it because you have herpes unless you had a lesion on an area that comes in contact with the seat ( ie upper thigh or outer buttocks for the most part ).

STOP worrying - genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease - not something you can easily transmit thru routine day to day casual contact!
