herpes confusion, Grace please help.

Hello
I had an encounter protected vaginal (10 min) and received unprotected oral (10min) from an escort. I tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis at two different clinics and all came back negative.I also did antigen p24 for HIV at day 32, and was negative. After 21 days of the encounter, I got one pimple on the line between my thigh and my hairy area, the next day I got another pimple on my other thigh like 2-3 inches away from my hairy area. I saw a dermatologist the next day and after examining both, he said they don't look like herpes and didn't swab them saying they are not herpes. They did not hurt, nor itch at all. They were gone after 7-8 days.

The next day after I saw the dermatologist I start feeling muscle contractions, it started with my thighs and now I feel it everywhere in my body even my arms (its been ongoing for 2 weeks now). The pimples are gone for a few days now, but I also started feeling joint pain in my hands, fingers and heels. The muscle and joint pain are still there, they are slight, not something that is real painful, but I am aware of them. I've been super stressed for the past 4 weeks due to this whole encounter.

I did IgG type specific tests at day 28 (4 weeks) and day 35 (5 weeks) and both came <0.5 negative for HSV2 but high positive for HSV1. I know I might have HSV1 from before because I always get cold sores in my mouth since I was a kid.

I know 5 weeks is still early to test, but due to stress I had to do the test.

I read in one of the answers of Dr Handsfield that most people would get positive after 6 weeks, if they had a recent infection.

I am so confused, are my symptoms typical of herpes?
Do usually the muscle and joint pain stay after the bumps are gone, even if I did not have any swollen groin glands, or fever or headache?
Please, tell me what do you think is going on with me, and do you think I have herpes?
Please advise.

Thanks doublebj, I want to think this is what it is, but after my negative 8 weeks HIV and HSV2, I was not stressed anymore, and I am still getting these pains till today in my back and arms mostly. I also have flank pain above my hips, I did an ultrasound and nothing came out of it.

- Is there a need to keep testing for HIV and HSV2?
- What could cause muscle pain and pimples?
- Currently I amnot in North America nor in Europe, what other STDs should I test for other than Chlamydia, Gonnorhea, Syphilis, HIV, and HSV, that might in any ways be related to my case?

I appreciate any help.

most likely the muscle pains are psychsomatic.  it is hard to believe, but when we are worried about a disease, we can actually manifest symptoms.  I've had it happen to me when I thought I possibly caught HIV..so trust me on that! the red dots are probably pimples.

I repeated the HIV and HSV 2 IgG tests at 12 weeks and 2 days, and both came negative.

I am sharing the result for two reasons , first for people who have similar symptoms to know my results and which would sometimes give a feeling of relief. Second because I am still confused.

I am now a bit more convinced that after 12 weeks negative results that I have neither HIV nor herpes, but I still cannot figure out what could my symptoms be.

I still get muscle pain, mainly in my back, arms and soles. I am also still getting 3 to 5 red bumps with white head on my body, mainly my neck, torso, arms and thighs.

- Please let me know if someone has an idea what could that be.
- Also since I got HSV 1 positive and I don't know if this was an old or new infection, could these symptoms be due to HSV 1?

Please help.

The ranges for HSV did not show up correctly, so I will try again
less thank 9 (negative)
between 9 and 11 (grey zone)
above 11 (positive)

Hello again

I have an update.

I took the IgG test again and an HIV antibody test at 8 weeks and 2 days.

HIV (1+2)  0.2    i1.0 positive

HSV I    52.9 NTU    11 positive

HSV II 3.59 NTU  (same ranged as above)

So if I understood correctly, HIV and HSV 2 are negative so far while HSV 1 is confirmed positive.

I still feel muscle contractions all over my body mostly arms, back and legs, I don't see herpes sores, but I see pimples with white tips mostly in my thighs.

Any advice? Do I have a big chance to still be negative at 4 months for HSV 2 and at 3 months for HIV?

What could this muscle pain be?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Not from a new infection.

and I forgot to add: does herpes manifest itself like that with one pimple on each thigh, with one being so far from the genital area?

She did not have any visible sores oral or genitals, but you never know.

If 21 days is too long for herpes, what could my symptoms be though?

I feel slight pain in my joints (mostly wrists, fingers, and heels) and some muscle contractions in arms and legs. Muscle contraction been going on for 2 weeks non-stop and join pain for 6 days now (started after pimples disappeared).

I don't know if this is related or not, but I'll mention that around 4 weeks ago I started smoking again, more than double the number of cigarettes that I used to smoke before I stopped 3 months ago.

Hi, first time symptoms appear about 3-4 days post encounter and a week or so most always, 21 days is to long fo symptms to appear from a first time exposure. Also if she did not have any lip or genital sores at the time your risk would be close to zero from a one time encounter.
