herpes gladiatorum

how do i get rid or treat herpes gladiatorum? im a wrestler and i just cought it for the second time in 3 years. how do i treat it?

You didn't catch it for the 2nd time in 3 years. You had a recurrence of your previous infection with it.  

All wrestling teams should have a policy in place as to how to deal with anyone who knows that they have gladiatorum or has oral herpes.  typically during the wrestling season anyone who knows that they have either of those forms of herpes need to be on daily suppressive therapy during the season. If you chose not to do this, then anytime you have a recurrence you can not wrestle until it's gone.  Talk to your provider about suppressive therapy as well as if you chose to only treat your ob's when you have them, ask about what medication you need prescribed to treat it with.

You had made a post in 2007 that siad there wasn't any evidence that antivirals helped with HSV1.

Actually what grace said is "there aren't any studies on daily suppressive therapy with any of the 3 herpes antivirals reducing the transmission of hsv1 to a partner either orally or genitally."

That just means there are no studies to confirm or deny suppression with HSV1. Which means maybe it does, maybe it doesn't.
