herpes misdiagnosed ?

I know this is wishful thinking.  I recently started having sex with a new partner. she performed oral sex. nothing more
  I decided to go to the free clinic and was found positive of Genital Herpes.
  I never had any syptoms (symptoms). Upon physical examination, there were no visible signs. the doctor, gave an inspection and found nothing. I just took the test to feel confident.
  No bumps, sores, rash nothing. the staff member told me, i might have a strong immune system thats why.
I then admitted I'm a heavy drinker and dont take care of myself. I usually get 4 to 5 hours of sleep.
So I'm wondering, should I retest. I feel fine, never had any genital problems. and I must admit, I'm shocked and almost in denial.
    before this partner, its been several years since  real sexual contact. I always used latex condoms. so I'm baffled as to how I could have this virus. Should I get a second opinion.   they took a blood test, but it was a very busy free clinic.

You appear to be a rather poor historian, since your account here is difficult to follow. Are you saying you had an IgG blood test for herpes and it was positive? Which type of herpes was it? Type 1 or type 2, or both? Not having symptoms means nothing. Most folks walking around with herpes don't have any recognizable symptoms. Just because you used condoms in the past doesn't mean you couldn't contract it.

Was there a reason you happened to be tested? You said you don't have any symptoms, so why did you get a blood test if you have no symptoms?

I hate to say this, but being a heavy drinker is a much worse problem than having herpes. Drinking heavily will negatively impact your health much more than herpes ever could. You might want to get the booze under control. I'd say herpes is the least of your problems if you are an alcoholic.

Most people who have herpes "feel fine." The majority of people who have it don't even realize they have it; that's how mild and how medically non-important herpes really is.

If you had an IgM test, you will definitely need to be tested again.

ok, I admit I have a problem. (drinking)
  I took the test, because I have a new partner.
i went to the free clinic and the result says...
  1.10 positive antibody detected
  simplex virus type 2. eia for IGG.
   I still have no symptoms. just a very worried guy. I stopped all sexual contact with my partner, until I know more.
I've been doing research, I even heard that chicken pox antibodies are often mistaken for herpes type 2. I had chicken pox at an older age, 17. I'm now 30.
I know this means  nothing. I want to get a second opinion. I went BACK to the free clinic. they were not helpful. they told me, I had no signs. they did the koture test and I passed. In my nervous state. I showed them an area which itches. I learned I have jock itch and was prescribed an antifungal.
but the Herpes thing has me worried.
  I admit, I'm a drinker, but I'm NOT a very sexually active person. so it makes me wonder.

You will need to repeat your herpes igg hsv2 blood test later on in a few months. You have just borderline positive result and sometimes they are falsely negative so additional testing needs to be done.

Meanwhile - stop looking at your penis any more than usual! You'll just drive yourself nuts.

does this mean that the virus needs time to develope? if so should or COULD I take any preventative measures.
     I admit the entire situation is driving me nuts. (btw that was funny, I'm sure there was no pun intended)
  I'm still looking for symtoms (symptoms). still no bumps, I do however have minor itching on my leg. the nurse examined it and diagnosed it was "jock itch". However, still nothing on or around the penis or testis.
     thanks again, Iwant to get tested sooner, would that make a difference?

Your hsv2 is a low positive.  It needs confirmed with additional testing.  Repeat it in 1 month and if it's still under 3.5 then you'll need additional testing done.  If you are in the US you should try to get a herpes western blot done.

Jock itch is common in the crease of the leg and under the testicles in males.  Have you used an otc jock itch medicine for it? Apply it once or twice a day for 2 full weeks depending on which strength you get.

Meanwhile instead of using your time staring at your genitals ( I know - it's hard - writers strike has tv sucking more than usual lately....he he he ) use it to get help for your drinking.  Also if you don't take a multivitamin - start taking one to replace what the alcohol is robbing from your body.

I must admit this Herpes thing is driving me a bit crazy. Today at work, I swore I felt a sore forming on my genitals. First on one side, then on the other. I went home to see nothing wrong.
   is this low positive score a sign that its a new infection? or could I have ad it for a while. or could it be all wrong?

well, I'm still going through the stress of not being sure.
3 days ago, I wore long underwear pants under my pants at work.
   I WAS diagnosed with jock itch, when I took the physical test for herpes.
the doctor prescribed a cream, and I did NOT use it
   So 3 days ago, I worked on my feet for 10 hours wearing  long john underwear. my inner thighs rubbed together and by the end of the day.
I was itching like crazy. NOW I have a rash, I felt it coming on that day.
   THEN 2 days ago, I noticed a tiny bump on my penis.
it was on the side of my penis that rubs against my left leg with the rash.
I sprayed abtifungal and dabbed it with silver.
the bump is now gone. it was tiny, and not painful, it just itched.
but its gone.
  Today, I worked a long shift again, and the inner thighs are itching again.
NOT in pain, but itching like crazy.
   not to mention, I started to freak out.
I noticed hives on my hands.
as a teen, when stressed out I broke out into hives.
     the hives are gone, but the rash is still on my inner left thigh.
   the tiny bump on my penis is gone.
      it was barely noticeable.
   so now, I' m worried are these early signs of an outbreak?
I was reading that herpes soars are very painful.
My rash is just itchy, not painful.
     I'm going crazy, I also have itching in my Knee crease. the rash is on my inner thigh crease. the tiny bump was on my penis and 2 more bumps way under my scrotum sack.
they also itch. no puss, no pain, just itch.
    HELP, is this my first outbreak?

So you were diagnosed as having jock itch but chose not to treat it and now you are wondering why you are having issues down yonder?  come over here and let me smack you upside the head!!!!

You need to treat your fungal infection properly - that means applying the cream either once or twice a day every single day for 2 weeks ( some creams say apply once daily, others say twice daily - READ THE BOX to see how to apply it ).

You are bundling yourself up under layers to stay warm and I assume sweating at different points of the day?  Those are ideal conditions for fungal infections in the groin area.  Properly treat this and see how that helps instead of panicking and thinking HERPES every single time you get a rash!!!

Now that I read my post, I see how ignorant it looks, I guess I do deserve a smack.
this shows how such a diagnosis can drive a person to such a panic.
   Honestly, the free clinic gave me an ointment to treat the jock itch. I threw it in my closet and went to learning more about Herpes.
To this day, I still itch.
  I keep looking out for Herpes sores.
  I thought the jock itch rash was Herpes, but then I realized it really flared up when I wore those long john underwear for 11 hours a few days ago.
I felt the friction between my legs. and WOW did it itch.
  I did see a tiny bump on my penis, but it was on the side that rubs against my leg.
     I was wondering,
  I havent been able to find a western blot test yet, HOWEVER I found a dr that gives a 10 in herpes test,
its kind of pricey

and perhaps this gives a written glimpse of a persons insecurities, when facing a non curable std.
  Thanks grace for recommending I take the jock itch ointment.
  I have seem some good results.
  I also notice super tiney sores on my penis. they itch. they dont hurt.
they only bother me when i scratch them. they look like the jock itch in its early stages
  but still no outbreak, no blood
  perhaps it is my first outbreak.
