herpes or canker sores?

How do I know if I have canker sores or herpes?  I have a cluster of white lesions at the very back of my throat and uvula and can't even eat or drink.  I read that herpes in the mouth only occurs along the gumlines or roof of the mouth?  I have never had a cold sore or anything like this before, although I have had the occassional canker sore.  I have not done more than kiss a man in 5 years.  However, the last man I was sexually active with had genital herpes.  We were never sexually active during an outbreak and always used a condom, except for oral sex.  Can this be my first outbreak of herpes, 5 years later??

you need to go and be seen. odds are this is neither going on.  You also need a strep culture done.

if you never followed up on your herpes status after ending your relationship with a hsv2+ partner, you should do so at some point to know what your status is just to err on the side of caution.
