herpes or shingels

I have been told I have genital herpes.  lab results are not in yet.

The sores are only on the left side of my vagina, could it be shingles?

I have had chcken poxs and shingles at a young age.

Shingles almost never reoccurs so it's doubtful it's shingles.

When I was diagnosed, my Dr thought that I had shingles. She also told me that there were only 2 things that looked like what I had going on and that was shingles and herpes.  She did cultures for both shingles and herpes, she called me 2 days later to tell me I had herpes.  Even though she thought it was shingles, she told me that it was very rare for shingles to reoccur.

The same thing happened to me. I had an actual case of shingles in August on my stomach. And then in September I noticed spot on the right side of my vagina. The doctor confirmed it as HSV1, and said I likely contracted it through oral sex. My bf has had cold sores on his mouth before, but not since he was a child. This came a year into our relationship. I've read that HSV culture tests could come back positive, when really what the virus is is shingles. Have you received any other information???
