Hi,

I'm new to this I came in contact with herpes 32 days ago two days ago I tested positive for herpes 2 my score was 2.9 the doctor put me on Valtrex I've had lower back pain tingling in my leg arms and *** as well as a tingling burning feeling on my shaft but I've have yet to have an outbreak my doctor wants me to take the pills everyday till I rest test in 4 weeks. Is there anyway it could be something else?

I'm taking the 500mg the doctor said I should take it just in case I do have herpes to avoid the ob and cut back on the risk of passing. I was worried that if I don't take it I will have an ob which I hear is very very painful and a nice it's been 32 days I'm worried that I'm over due for that ob. I didn't know it could be proteins in my blood but I guess I'll have to wait and see

Yes Valtrex can delay the time until you test positive in blood. Having said that, you already seemingly test positive. I am not sure about the value of you taking Valtrex. There is some evidence if taken early enough you can reach a longer term pattern sooner, but maybe from 32 days this doesn't apply. I'd suggest do not take it but you need to reach your own conclusions.

I cannot suggest what else it may be. What I do know is that if this is a false positive it is for reasons unrelated to your symptoms, just proteins in your blood that could be there for any number of reasons.

And if there is a chance it's not herpes do you have any idea what it could be that cause me to even have a low positive?

You need to find out more details about the test you have had. Nevertheless your doctor seems quite knowledgeable on herpes and the testing so stick with them during this process.

An initial outbreak is usually within 10 days of infection and you are beyond this phase. Outbreaks just happen with only a little prewarning (half a day sort of timing) they do not occur after days or weeks of symptoms like burning or itching. This would indicate another cause.

I'm afraid you need to work through things at what will seem an incredibly slow process. You have had an exposure of some risk (noting the very low risk per episode even with a positive partner), some symptoms although I'm not convinced they are herpes related and a positive test of some description.

I'm not sure the test he just said I test low positive 2.9 for herpes 2. And that I was right at the border and will need to retest in 4 weeks. Should I be expecting a outbreak soon?

What was the exact test you had and the results, looking for whether it was IgG, IgM, the reference ranges (is it greater than 1.1 positive)?

The test was positive he said a low post I've but to me that means I have herpes or why would the test come back like that?

32 days ago I went to a Asian massage I had unprotected oral sex and protected sex I'm really not sure if she had herpes or not but 12 days later I started getting pain in my lower back and upper back then I was getting tingling and weird feeling in my legs I felt like something was crawling up and down my back and hip pain. Then my shaft started to tingling and burn anywhere from a few min to it seams like all day and I have had these symptoms for the last 17 days when I went to see the doctor he thought it was just anxiety then the test came back and he said he can't be 100% sure just yet but to take the pills daily till we rest test to be safe

Your symptoms without the lesions will always have a chance of being related to something else. It must be said though that these symptoms could be entirely independent of whether you do or do not have HSV2.

Let's go back a step, are you able to answer these questions. What was the exposure 32 days ago and how do you know there was HSV2 present in the partner?
