herpes results false positive??

Hi I've recently tested positive for hsv 2. I had an igg type specific test. The results were 3.78. Prior to testing up until now I haven't had any symptoms or outbreaks. This has flipped my world upside down and I am completely devastated. Is there even a little glimpse of hope that this could be a false positive? Should I peruse further testing or take it for what it is I really need to know but I don'tthink I could emotionally deal with getting another positive result

you have to wait 4 months after you last had any sex for testing for herpes with the WB.

Not necessarily. I've had sex with this particular person two times. Honestly I've had 2 other partners that I've been involved with for the past 2 years and have been to the doctors and everything was fine. I didn't have reasons to go this go round it was just time for my annual. Hopefully prayerfully this is just an eye opener because I have been so depressed. I've text this last person repeatedly with no response practically begging him to tell me if he had an std. How long should I wait before being retested?

I hope you read our read before posting post where it reminds folks that unless I"m interpreting test results, please do not think the person answering you is qualified to do so.

can your hsv2 igg be a false positive. indeed it could be so it's well worth following up with additional confirmatory testing. since you haven't had any obvious lesions to culture, seeking out a herpes WB is the next best test to get. How to get the WB in the US is listed in our read before posting post also.

do you have a regular partner?

Is it safe to say that I've seen where some cases have had 3.5 or even a 3.78 and sought 2nd opinion and results came back negative. Is it even worth seeking a 2nd opinion?

With the level of the test being that high, you have HSV 2.  It's not the end of the world.  I know you say that you aren't having any symptoms right now, but the HSV 2 is still there.  Everyone is different you have some people who have an out break once a month and you have some people who don't have outbreaks at all.  I would seek medical advice from your Dr. and I'm sure they can direct you to the proper websites and information that you need to deal with HSV 2.  There is also medication that you can take to help lessen the shedding and transmission to others.  Keep in mind even if there are not any sore or symptoms visible, you can still transmitt the disease because it is transmitted through skin to skin contact.  best of luck to you.
