Thanks for the group for serving lot of people's concerns.
I recently gone thru the herpes type1 & type2 IGG test, after i observed (very) small sores on my genital (they were little itchy at that time but no burning feeling). By the time i gave the culture seems sores were cured. I gave the test on 12 th day of my exposure to unprotected oral..Here are the results,
Hsp1 IGG : 2.17 (they said its positive)
Hsp2 IGG : 0.3 (negative)
culture : negative
lab guys said the hsp1 is normal not a serious disease. it gives u like cold sores in mouth( but i hardly remember having sores in mouth in my past) ..they said i should be concern only if i had hsp2..
here are my questions
1.) does hsp1 is normal? can i consider my self clean..?
2) if my hsp2 results are -ve what could causes the sores on my genital?
3) was it too short time (12days) after my exposure, to caught up the hsp2 in my blood results? ( i should have waited more time before i gave blood test?)
4) what are the serious health problems and sexual
herpes is abbreviated as hsv. hsp is the abbreviation for a totally different infection.
at this point, no way to know if you have hsv1 genitally or not unless you get a return of genital symptoms. should you get them, be seen within 48 hours of their appearance for a lesion culture and typing.
most adults will test + for hsv1 whether they can recall obvious cold sores or not. hsv1 would've been your risk from receiving oral sex
, not hsv2. Since a blood test only tells you what you have and now where you have it, best you can do at this point is wait for a return of symptoms .
wish I had more exact answers for you but it's the best that can be done in a situation like this.
