herpes test results

by ellie719, Dec 15, 2008 04:46PM
I got a blood test a month or so after a possible infection with hsv 1. It showed igg + but igm -. Wouldn't that mean an old infection? I got another test 9 months after that which were all negative for hsv 1 except the igm. I have read over and over here that igm is inaccurate, so what could all this mean? Can the igg become negative over 9 months? Which of these is most likely false? The first igg?

You should be completely disregarding the igm results. Even if it was a more accurate test, it was completely inappropriate to draw it again at the 9 month later mark anyways.

You should only go by your igg results.
