i tested positive with the IgG type specific herpes test about three two years ago for herpes 2. i was restested last week and came back negative for herpes 2 with the same IgG type specific test. both times i tested positive for type 1. i am asking if this means i do not have herpes 2. i have heard that antibodies would be present for life and that if i had the virus it would always be present if i was tested one, two, or twenty years later.
any explanation would be greatly appreciated. i also have never had any visible symptom of herpes 2.
That means that test you took a couple years ago was most likely a false positive test and you more than likely don't have it. I've read that sometimes you can have a false positive especially if you have HSV1. Do you know what your levels were in the first test?I think you are in a good spot
Thanks for the response and the positive words. i don't know what my levels were back then. i did not really know much about herpes. my levels now are 0.2 for the herpes 2 and 46.0 for the herpes 1. they were both negative for the IgM test, but that test usually spots
